From the outset, design and build leaders Oktra collaborated closely with Macmillan to design a workspace that embodies their values and unwavering commitment to sustainability. Located within a BREEAM Excellent-rated building, the new office incorporates carbon-neutral materials and reupholstered furnishings to minimise environmental impact. Existing pieces were carefully repurposed, with donated desks seamlessly integrated into the design. Every element, from carbon-neutral flooring to biophilic features, was selected with sustainability at its core.

At the heart of the workspace lies a café-style breakout area that connects effortlessly to a town-hall space, fostering community and collaboration. Flexible seating and folding walls allow the environment to adapt easily to different needs, from focused individual work to group discussions. Sit-stand and hot desks further enhance versatility, reflecting a contemporary and dynamic way of working.

The result is a warm, welcoming space with a home-like feel. Visitors are greeted by vibrant green accents and comfortable soft seating, while a self-check-in system replaces the traditional reception desk. Throughout the office, artwork and branding celebrate the carers and individuals Macmillan supports, sharing their stories in an inspiring and meaningful way.
