The goal of an office fit-out project is to create an enriched environment for the workforce. They are designed to inspire, motivate and stimulate productivity. But with any good interior design comes the opportunity create a striking first impression and a wow-factor. For office interiors, this first impression usually comes at the reception area. This is where clients, customers and business associates first arrive and is often where they will wait. If, when reviewing their surroundings, they can see pride being taken in the workspace and therefore the well-being of the staff, then that’s a great first impression. If the design itself is creative, bold and successful, then you’ve got yourself your wow-factor.
As a photographer of commercial workspaces in London, I get to experience this first impression on each shoot I undertake. This is often the focal-point from which the design for the rest of space flows. It’s also where some of my favourite interior photographs are taken. Here is a small selection of some of my favourite office reception areas.
