Recently, I was contacted by London’s Moorfields Eye Hospital – the largest specialist eye hospital in the world. Moorfields are in the process of having their website and visual branding overhauled and the need for professional photography to compliment the new look is a sensible choice. The photoshoot lasted a number of days and covered a wide range of photographic styles. Interior and exterior photography of the hospital building and the comprehensive facilities took care of the first day. Next came the tricky task of photographing the senior consultants doing what they do best – treating their patients. This requires a clear understanding of the shots you’re aiming for prior to walking in to the consultants’ rooms. The last thing you want to do is fumble around for ideas and shots in front of the consultants and their patients. Professionalism and efficiency are key here. Of course, it helped that the consultants and their patients were all happy to partake in a bit of role-playing and posing for the camera! A day of capturing detail shots around the hospital followed. These types of shots are always great for populating a website or brochure – think ‘stock photography’ but customised and relevant for the client they are taken for. Two days of headshots of the senior consultants concluded an enjoyable and satisfying week-long photoshoot.
